🗺️ Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Step Back in Time in Shimla
Welcome to the former summer capital of British India! Arrive in the morning via a scenic mountain drive or the historic Kalka-Shimla toy train.
Morning: Check into your hotel and head straight to The Ridge, a massive open promenade offering spectacular, uninterrupted views of the snow-clad peaks.
Afternoon: Take a short, invigorating hike up to the iconic Jakhu Temple. Located on the highest peak in Shimla, it features a massive 108-foot statue of Lord Hanuman.
Evening: Unwind by strolling down the bustling Mall Road. Admire the colonial-era architecture, grab a hot cup of hot chocolate, and watch the sunset from Scandal Point.
Day 2: Snowy Vistas in Kufri
Morning: Drive down to Kufri, a quaint hill station located just a short distance outside Shimla.
Afternoon: Explore Kufri Fun World or take a classic yak ride around the scenic Indira Tourist Park. If you enjoy hiking, head up to Mahasu Peak for a stellar view of the deeper Himalayan ranges.
Evening: Return to Shimla and visit the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (Viceregal Lodge) to learn about the incredible architectural history of the region.
Day 3: The Scenic Ridge Road to Manali
Morning: Bid farewell to Shimla and embark on the roughly 7-to-8-hour road journey to Manali.
Afternoon: The drive is an attraction in itself. As you snake through the mountains, you will pass through Mandi and enter the breathtaking Kullu Valley. Keep your camera ready as the turquoise Beas River begins to run alongside your road.
Evening: Arrive in Manali, check into your riverside resort, and fall asleep to the soothing sound of flowing water.
Day 4: Spirituality & Cafe Culture in Manali
Morning: Start your day under a canopy of ancient deodar trees at the wooden Hadimba Temple, built back in 1553.
Afternoon: Cross the bridge into Old Manali. This area has a distinct, relaxed bohemian charm and is filled with vibrant graffiti, live music, and incredible wood-fired pizza cafes.
Evening: Walk through the Tibetan Monastery to experience absolute tranquility before indulging in some local shopping at Manali’s Mall Road.
Day 5: High-Flying Thrills at Solang Valley
Morning: Wake up early and head towards Solang Valley, the adventure epicenter of Himachal Pradesh.
Afternoon: Take to the skies! Solang is famous for paragliding, zorbing, and quad-biking. (Note: If you are traveling during the colder months and the roads are clear, you can opt to extend your excursion further up to the legendary, snow-covered Rohtang Pass instead).
Evening: Wind down your final mountain evening with a warm, traditional Himachali meal like Siddu at a local eatery.
Day 6: Goodbye to the Hills
Morning: Sleep in late, enjoy a slow breakfast overlooking the foggy mountains, and pick up some last-minute woolen shawls or fresh Himalayan apples.
Afternoon: Catch your return Volvo bus or private taxi back to Chandigarh or Delhi to connect to your onward flight/train.
